Our client, a well-established manufacturer with 50 years of experience in embedded wireless connectivity modules, seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to join their team at their Santa Ana, CA headquarters. In this role, the FAE will provide technical support to the sales team, offering technical guidance and assistance to the sales managers throughout the sales process. As projects advance, the FAE will work closely with customers’ engineering teams to integrate the company's modules into their devices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers throughout their evaluation and design process with the company.
- Lead the design win process for key customers.
- Provide prompt, thorough responses to customer inquiries, while proactively seeking out crucial information needed for project success.
- Track and maintain detailed notes on customer interactions, project status, and issues.
- Prepare and present key customer project updates to the company team using PowerPoint during account review meetings.
- Guide customers from evaluation through production, managing all technically oriented customer calls.
- Handle post-sales technical support and address customer issues as needed.
- Develop or improve application notes, user guides, quick start guides, and release notes.
- Assist customers w/ debugging wireless hardware, software, or regulatory issues, collaborating with the FAE team and engineering.
- Continue professional development through webinars, technical papers, and in-depth training from the company colleagues.
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field
- 4+ years of experience as FAE, or applications, or hardware, or RF, or software engineering.
- Ability to write, modify, and debug ‘C’ code.
- Experience in debugging or modifying embedded device drivers.
- Basic knowledge of networking protocols.
- Solid understanding of hardware (digital) schematics and basic power design; capable of referencing schematics to probe test points on hardware.
- Knowledge of test methodology, including writing test plans and publishing test results.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Strong documentation abilities, with proficiency in utilizing the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% to support customers on-site, attend trade shows, or participate in training events.
‘PLUS’ QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT REQUIRED):
- 3+ years of experience in writing, modifying, and debugging embedded Linux wireless drivers.
- Working knowledge of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, and other 802.11 radio protocols.
- Expertise in real-time programming concepts and implementations using "C".
- Familiarity with hardware layout, with the ability to use basic CAD software to view layouts and compare PCB board traces to schematics.
- Proficient in writing automated testing scripts using languages like Python.
- Experience in hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and wireless sniffers. Ability to assist customers with in-depth hardware debugging.
