JOB SUMMARY
Covalent Solutions (Covalent) is seeking a mission driven, highly motivated and collaborative SQL Developer who is truly excited about building great products to support one of our clients at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As a SQL Developer, you will apply your skills to support development and maintenance of Oracle databases that support .NET applications. We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a mission-driven organization.
This opportunity is full-time with Covalent and is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, modify, and optimize Oracle database packages, stored procedures, and piped functions to support .NET applications.
- Manage and configure Oracle Database Scheduler to automate jobs and send emails from Oracle databases.
- Analyze existing database code to enhance performance, resolve bugs, and maintain functionality.
- Collaborate with the DBA and .NET development teams to integrate new features and optimize database operations.
- Ensure efficient database operations by optimizing query performance, ensuring data integrity, and troubleshooting database-related issues.
- Serve as a backup Oracle DBA, assisting with DBA tasks as needed.
- Create, modify, and optimize complex SQL queries, triggers, and views for business applications.
- Provide technical guidance to developers for integrating .NET applications with Oracle packages and piped functions.
- Document database structures, changes, and programming efforts to ensure smooth knowledge transfer.
- Assist in the design and implementation of database partitioning strategies.
- Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and best practice improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Desired certifications.
- Oracle Database Program with PL/SQL
- Oracle Database Administration I
- Oracle Database SQL
- Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate
- Microsoft Azure Developer
Work Experience
- 2+ Experience with Agile methodology.
- 2+ years of the following
- Working with Oracle databases
- Managing/configuring Oracle Database Scheduler
- Develop/modify/optimize Oracle database packages/stored procedures/piped functions to support .NET applications.
- Basic Oracle DBA duties e.g backups
- SQL skills for Oracle database design, querying, and optimization.
- Database design. Strong knowledge of database schema design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
- Oracle DB performance tuning. Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Backup and Recovery. Solid knowledge in Oracle database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- 1+ years of working knowledge of integration Oracle DBs with Microsoft .NET applications
