Description
Position Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is r esponsible for all tasks involved in processing bi-weekly payroll. The payroll clerk has a range of duties that include collecting timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring employees receive their pay on time. Administers and performs timecard review, payroll record accuracy, data entry, and other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):
Education :
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred .
Work experience :
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Payroll processing or similar scope of role is required.
- 3-5 years’ experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Interpersonal Skills :
- Must possess skills in establishing a rapport with staff.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Travel Requirements :
Essential Job Duties and Percent of time:
50%:
Prepares biweekly payroll, including processing and auditing timecards, leave requests PTO accruals, establishes proper deduction amounts, accrual schedules for vacation and sick leave, direct deposits, retro pay and other adjustments. Processes employees’ paychecks by collecting their payroll data and timesheets. Maintains payroll information by collating, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system. Performs timecard audits to ensure timely entries of payroll time and employee hours each pay period. Calculates wages, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation components ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal payroll tax regulations.

Collaborate closely with employees to gather any important payment information or to answer any questions regarding their paychecks. Resolve payroll discrepancies as needed. Interfaces with employees and managers on payroll related questions in a timely and professional manner. Provides guidance on payroll policies and procedures to employees and managers.

Suggests and initiates modifications to improve payroll processing workflow and/or procedures.

Prepares a variety of annual, quarterly, and monthly payroll reports and maintains payroll records.
