The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires the services of one
Business Intelligence Analyst 3. The selected candidate must meet the general qualifications for this position and the specifications outlined below.
Responsibilities:
- Support TEA's Financial Data Scientist and Finance Division.
- Assist with query and report development for all PeopleSoft modules, including:
- Review of existing queries used by DIR financial staff.
- Recommendations and modifications to align with current CAPPS standards.
Key Duties:
- Coordinate necessary functional and technical resources for financial business collaboration.
- Teach and mentor agency staff in production reporting duties and best practices.
- Gather requirements from business customers for report development.
- Capture business requirements to meet TEA's reporting needs.
- Ensure consistent use of standardized project processes and forms, including:
- Functional Design Documents
- Key Design Decisions
- Change Controls
- Risk and Issue Logs
- Scope Documentation
- Configuration Documentation
- Business Process Flows
- Adhere to software development processes.
- Prepare detailed documentation.
- Complete tasks efficiently and keep project stakeholders informed.
- Develop queries and Business Objects reports based on functional specifications.
- Coordinate all phases of report design and development, including UAT and training, with follow-up support.
Work Products:
- All work products resulting from the project will be considered "works made for hire” and are the property of the TEA.
- Required Experience:
- Strong background in:
- State of Texas Financial Business Processes
- Query Development
- Business Objects (version 3.1, 4.0, or higher)
- Preferred experience with visualization tools such as:
- Microsoft Power BI
- Tableau
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Data Warehouse technology.

Required Experience:
- 8 years: Reporting experience with Business Intelligence report writing best practices
- 8 years: Reporting experience with business/system/data analysis and improvement
- 8 years: Reporting experience with the development of various reporting mechanisms
- 8 years: Reporting experience with PeopleSoft
- 8 years: State of Texas budget and finance experience using CAPPS
- 8 years: Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office products
- 8 years: Strong communication skills, presenting complex financial information to users/stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
- 7 years: Reporting experience with TCAPPS PeopleSoft
- 5 years: TCAPPS Financials modules implementation or post-go live experience with an emphasis on reporting activities
- 5 years: Knowledge of TCAPPS configurations and budgetary structure
- 5 years: Understanding of TCAPPS budget and reporting policies and business processes
Work hours and location:
- Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through the Texas Education Agency. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.
- The primary work location(s) will be at 100% Remote, Work Location With-in the United States.
