Description
As a Director of Medical Publications at
Sixsense Strategy Group, a Herspiegel company you are responsible for overseeing the development and execution of medical publications and communication strategies for pharmaceutical or biotech companies.
Some of the specific duties and responsibilities of the Director of Medical Publications may include:
- Building a publications division within a consulting agency setting.
- Leading and motivating a team of medical writers, associates, managers and/or Sr. Managers.
- Participating in business development and supporting RFP activities.
- Managing project team resourcing.
- Collaborating with cross-functional client teams, to ensure alignment of communication strategies.
- Developing and implementing strategic publication planning in support of client objectives.
- Leading the development of scientific publications, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations, and ensuring that they meet scientific standards.
- Ensuring that all publications are compliant with relevant industry guidelines, such as Good Publication Practice and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors guidelines.
- Ensuring that all communication materials are accurate, timely, and appropriately targeted to the intended audience.
- Identifying opportunities for efficiency and ways of improving quality.
Requirements
- At least 7 - 10 years of experience in medical communications, with a focus on scientific publications
- Pharmaceutical company agency experience
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
- Strategic and decisive thinking

- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work directly with healthcare professionals.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Experience developing internal processes and best practices
- Experience managing relationships with contractors, such as medical writers, graphic designers, and publication agencies.
- Ability to work well in a remote team environment and to work independently
- Expertise in English grammar and syntax
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Proficiency in publication management tools such as iEnvision and/or Pubstrat
Qualifications
- PhD degree in life sciences
- Strong organizational and team management skills; experience implementing new ways of working in a new structure or organization.
- Highly analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
