General Manager
Job Summary
A General Manager must be committed to inspiring our team, helping our customers succeed and growing our business with integrity. Professional level sales and management positions capable of supporting functions on both sides of the business. The role requires understanding of store systems, automotive systems, parts knowledge and has the ability to identify, troubleshoot and project assistance for DIY. Responsible for developing and maintaining professional customer relationships and program growth and is accountable for achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards.
Responsibilities
- You will oversee day-to-day dealership operations, assign weekly performance goals and ensure their completion, while you accomplish your own goals.
- You will direct and monitor all dealership management or supervisory personnel functions and complete formal performance evaluations of all department managers at regularly scheduled intervals.
- You will recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees to achieve objectives for sales, profitability, and market share.
- You will manage an effective service drive by working closely with the Service Manager, team building and customer satisfaction.
- You will maintain projected timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively.
- You understand the importance of human capital as a resource, not just an expense.
- You will develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.
- You will effectively delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values.
- You will meet with managers individually to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives, and to review actual performance.
- You will monitor the daily operating control (DOC), as well as other Empire KPI reporting tools so that you can recommend improved courses of action where necessary.
- You will provide corporate management with accurate weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership.
- You will develop and maintain a good working relationship with lending institutions and factory personnel.
- You will communicate management policies and procedures to all employees and ensure that they are understood and followed.
- Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape employees' attitudes and build morale.
- You fully understand and closely monitor customer satisfaction reporting from manufacturers so that dealership policy and performance are in line with stated parameters.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a general management role with a domestic dealership.
- You have a proven track record for success along with a stable work history.
- You exhibit strong decision-making ability.
- You understand the equal importance of both variable and fixed operations.
- You have excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills.
- You have proven ability to develop and achieve monthly and annual projections.
- You have a proven ability to motivate and lead employees, and to hold them accountable.
- You have strong computer skills, Microsoft Office, Reynolds & Reynolds or CDK experience preferred.
