Job Overview
We are a dynamic and rapidly expanding national retail bakery seeking a passionate and skilled Construction Project Manager to join our Development team. This remote position is tailored for individuals located on the West Coast, ideally near a major airport, who are excited about leading construction projects that contribute to the ongoing success of a cherished brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the seamless transition of newly constructed and renovated stores from the construction phase to operational readiness, ensuring all aspects such as punch lists, warranties, and maintenance procedures are managed efficiently.
- Verify the accuracy and compliance of contract documents with brand standards.
- Direct the bidding process for general contractors, managing everything from the assembly of bid documents to the awarding of contracts.
- Supervise general contractors and collaborate with direct vendors to keep construction timelines on schedule, ensuring effective communication with Operations.
- Work alongside Technical and Permit Specialists to secure approvals for building permits and construction documents.
- Act as the primary liaison with landlords and their representatives throughout the construction process.
- Collaborate with the New Store Coordinator to manage the requisition, delivery, and setup schedules for new store openings.
- Ensure all construction projects adhere to relevant building codes and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years in retail, restaurant, or hotel design and/or construction.
- Thorough understanding of construction administration processes, including scheduling, cost reporting, and project status updates.
- Experience managing commercial construction projects, preferably in the role of Owner's representative.
- Strong leadership abilities to inspire and guide external design professionals and consultants.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in a collaborative corporate environment involving teams such as Design, Purchasing, Operations, and Culinary.
- Proactive in identifying potential opportunities for cost savings, schedule enhancements, and quality improvements in completed projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications such as Architecture licenses, PMP, or PE are considered advantageous.
- Proven track record in leading and managing construction projects effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
