A rapidly growing general contractor based in San Diego, CA, specializing in affordable housing, is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to lead multi-family construction projects. The ideal candidate will have completed at least 4 multi-family construction projects in California, with the ability to manage large-scale housing developments by ensuring compliance with contract documents, maintaining project schedules, and overseeing budgets. This position is based out of a collaborative, dog-friendly office in San Diego that fosters a supportive culture and values work-life balance. The role requires occasional travel to the San Francisco Bay Area (once per month for 1-2 days). Salary Range: $175,000 - $190,000 / year DOE
Project Manager Requirements
- Minimum of 4 full multifamily projects managed as a Project Manager for a General Contractor
- Experience managing podium projects
- Proficient in Procore (including the financial package), Excel, and MS Project
- Strong experience with California construction regulations and standards
- Bachelor s degree is preferred
- Ability to thrive in a small, less formal company environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Affordable housing experience is a plus
- Ability to travel to San Francisco Bay Area once per month
Project Manager Responsibilities
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and design teams to manage and execute projects
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, regulatory codes, and company standards
- Maintain and update project schedules to ensure timely completion
- Monitor project budgets and track spending
- Review and approve subcontractor change orders and project submittals
- Manage bidding processes, including scope and level bid reviews
- Create and maintain CPM schedules for projects
- Develop detailed scopes of work for all trade subcontract exhibits
- Utilize project management software including Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
