Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking Mechanical Engineers, Electronics Engineers and General Engineers to work at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
These positions (occupational series 830, 855 and 801) are in pay band GS-13, which has a typical 2023 salary range of $98,496 - $128,043. Recruitment incentives/relocation expenses may be authorized on a case-by-case basis.
These positions are not eligible for remote or full-time telework.
This is an Expedited Hire Authority Recruitment Notice. It is intended to build a candidate pool for an upcoming hiring event. The primary purpose of these positions is to serve as an engineer in AFNWC at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Engineers in AFNWC solve highly-complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence. Engineers are responsible for reviewing technical requirements and solving complex solutions for the Long Range Stand Off (LRSO) System Program Office.
Skills
A minimum of 30 months of Post-Bachelor’s degree engineering experience in one of the following disciplines-
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- General Engineering (Systems Engineering Role)
NOTE: The AFNWC has interdisciplinary teams and therefore seeks top talent from multiple engineering disciplines. The term “General Engineer” and the federal occupational series “0801 General Engineering” are used when more than one engineering discipline is suitable, or when no specific federal occupational series exists.
Range Of Duties
- Provides technical skills and leadership in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define weapon system/subsystem requirements; translates requirements into design criteria; evaluates alternative design approaches; and develops system specifications.
- Develops system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and estimates time and resources needed for system design, development, and support.
- Evaluates alternative design approaches and proposals and presents conclusions and recommendations.
- Ensures assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies.REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION (Not All-Inclusive):
