POSITION PURPOSE:
The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for supporting Concacaf leadership with strategic analysis, research, insights and recommendations to assist decision making to achieve organization goals and explore new growth opportunities. The role reports into the Chief Commercial Officer as a primary focus will be on supporting revenue generation (partnerships, media, sponsorship, licensing, ticketing, other) with additional responsibilities supporting strategic projects and opportunities that cut across the rest of the organization (Competitions, Development, Finance, and others).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify opportunities to drive the business or support key business decisions informed by data.
- Develop standards and collection processes to support robust analytics and reporting data pipelines including using statistical methods, modeling, analytical methodologies, and data analysis.
- Utilize KPIs, business performance data, industry trends, competitor intelligence, and customer information to develop analytical tools, reports, and models across the organization to inform and support decision-making.
- Track, measure, and analyze sponsorship assets, costs, values – understanding weight of value-driving KPIs (e.g. TV viewership, attendance) and updating relevant inputs for sponsorship and media valuation.
- Lead planning and production of sponsorship and media measurement reports, showcasing value and performance metrics delivered through competitions for commercial partners.
- Continue development of research capabilities focused on understanding fans across competitions, both through the management of syndicated tools and collaborating cross-departmentally on new, relevant custom studies (e.g. Sponsor Impact, Amplification, Fan Segmentation, etc.).
- Work with Digital department to develop actionable insights from the implementation of the Customer Data Platform including defining action plans for the different Concacaf fan segments.
- Support sponsorship and media rights sales and renewal processes through package valuations and pricing recommendations, the creation of insights-based support materials demonstrating competition performance, and the development of fan insights documents utilizing syndicated research and/or custom studies.
- Continuously refine and execute the sponsorship measurement program, which should inform sponsorship valuations and support partner-facing performance reports.
- Keep a pulse on key trends, attitudes, and consumer behaviors across the sports industry and priority/emerging categories – deliver thoughtful and relevant insights to Commercial team and the broader organization regularly plus create presentation for commercials stakeholders.
- Own relationship management of third-party data vendors and measurement agencies contributing to sponsorship measurement plan by managing day-to-day communication, planning for weekly meetings, and drafting briefs/support materials for project planning and high-quality, timely execution.
- Support the development of processes and “work shares” to further a culture of learning, integration, and analytical thought.
- Evaluate subscriptions, tools, and other relevant research investments that can strengthen Concacaf’s access to actionable insights.
- Foster industry relationships in the market research industry to bring fresh ideas and thinking to development initiatives, and position organization/properties as a thought leader.
- Lead other ad-hoc custom commercial research projects or analysis as needed.
- Assist in any department initiatives or special projects.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- +5 years of combined experience in a related role at a sports property, media company, management consulting firm, private equity or venture capital firm, or investment bank.
- Experience in developing and implementing long-term business plans and strategies.
- Strong industry relationships with agencies and data and research providers.
- Experience in both qualitative and quantitative consumer-based research.
- Experience with budgeting as well as strong financial analysis and financial modeling experience.
- Excellent business communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideal candidate is bi-lingual (English plus French or Spanish).
- Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, to work effectively with partners, internal management/co-workers and vendors.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, strategic and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Ability to efficiently produce written materials in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong presentation skills and comfortability with presenting to senior audiences
- Ability to build and foster a broad network of relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously while working as both part of a team as well as independently.
- High degree of intellectual curiosity and creative insight.
- Creative ability to visualize data for Go-To-Market and externally facing sales collateral.
- Candidate must have the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally for the performance of his/her duties. Approximate travel requirement: 15%.
Due to the cyclical nature of the sports and entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules including game nights to reflect the business needs of the company.
