Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Virtual CTO to join our team on a fractional/part-time basis. As a Virtual CTO, you will act as a trusted advisor to RevStar’s clients, guiding them on strategic technical decisions related to the software development work being performed by RevStar. This role involves working with multiple clients, ranging from startups to larger enterprises, each with different technical requirements. For startups, you will take on a more generalist role, while for larger enterprises, you will provide high-level architecture and strategic support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Advisory:Â Act as a CTO for multiple clients, providing high-level technical and architectural guidance for software development projects.
- Tailored Solutions:Â Provide generalist IT and product development advice to startups, guiding them through the early stages of product development, cloud strategy, and infrastructure decisions.
- Enterprise Support:Â For larger clients, offer strategic architectural solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, scalability, and future-proofing applications.
- Client Engagement:Â Act as the technical face of RevStar during client meetings, helping to translate business goals into technical strategies.
- Technical Oversight: Review the software development work being performed by RevStar’s teams, ensuring alignment with best practices, security standards, and client objectives.
- Project Roadmapping:Â Assist clients with technology roadmaps, ensuring a clear plan for scaling and evolving their software products.
- Mentorship and Leadership:Â Provide leadership and mentorship to internal teams, helping to foster a strong technical culture and guiding them toward innovative solutions.
- Stakeholder Communication:Â Liaise between business stakeholders and development teams to ensure all parties are aligned on project goals and technical requirements.
- Emerging Technologies:Â Stay up-to-date with the latest in cloud-native technologies, AI, DevOps, and serverless architectures to ensure clients are adopting the most efficient and effective solutions.
- Cross-Industry Expertise:Â Bring a broad understanding of various industries to provide tailored technical solutions that fit the specific needs of each client.
Qualifications:
- Experience:Â 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a CTO, VP of Engineering, or senior technical leadership role.
- Technical Expertise:Â Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, DevOps, AI, and serverless technologies. Experience with AWS is a must, and additional cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) are a plus.
- Startup and Enterprise Experience:Â Proven ability to work with both startups and larger enterprises, understanding the distinct needs of each.
- Architectural Leadership:Â Strong background in designing scalable, maintainable, and secure software architectures.
- Business Acumen:Â Ability to balance technical decisions with business needs, ensuring that solutions are both technically sound and aligned with client objectives.
- Communication Skills:Â Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fractional/Consulting Experience:Â Prior experience working in a fractional or part-time capacity across multiple clients is preferred.
- Certifications:Â AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or other relevant technical certifications are highly valued.
