We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing, Social Media & Communications Manager to develop and execute on our brand messaging, social media strategy, external communications and copywriting, with a strong knack for finding the best language to showcase our products and services. This role is pivotal in shaping and amplifying our brand's voice across all channels, ensuring consistency, and driving engagement with our members and public audience. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and catch-all marketer, with a startup-centric, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, who can work across brand & product marketing as well as digital media.
Responsibilities
- Brand Messaging: Develop compelling, consistent, and differentiated brand messaging for our website and across all marketing and communication channels.
- External Communications: Drive all external communication efforts, including drafting our community newsletter(s), social media copy, member emails, Slack community, and other engagement touch points.
- Content Strategy & Creation: Lead the creation and distribution of high-quality content (e.g., newsletter, social media, website copy, thought leadership pieces) that reinforce our brand identity and values.
- Experience with marketing & communications to a technical audience: our community members are women in software engineering specifically.
- Campaign Management: Execute on integrated marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, engagement, and ultimately, business results.
- Social Media Management: Manage our social media presence, driving engagement to grow our following and foster a vibrant online community.
- Brand Measurement: Track and analyze key brand metrics (e.g., brand awareness, sentiment, engagement) to measure the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in brand marketing, digital marketing and/or marketing communications, with a proven track record of success in building and managing strong brands.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of storytelling and the ability to translate technical concepts into compelling narratives, as well as conversion copywriting.
- Strong understanding of brand strategy, positioning, and product marketing principles.
- Data driven approach to digital marketing, social media, content marketing, and product launch strategies, understanding the value of marrying both analytical and creative thinking.
- Proven project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills - can work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in marketing and communication tools (e.g., MailChimp or other email marketing platforms, social media management platforms; Nice-to-have: automation tools like Zapier or Dripify).
- Have a determined, positive, and can-do attitude that matches our team culture
- Bachelor's degree in any relevant field.
- Nice to have: Experience working in high-performance environments, including but not limited to fast-growing VC-backed startups.
- Nice to have: interest and/or skill in content and asset creation - event photography, design sense, use of tools like Canva, or web design
Location: SF Bay Area based; may be open to candidates based in NYC, Seattle, LA, or Austin. This role meets in-person 1-3x per week in the SF Bay Area for team co-location and/or community events.
