Breakwater Strategy, a strategic communications and insights agency, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented junior professional to join a growing team of strategic communications advisors based in Washington, D.C. Breakwater advises companies, brands, coalitions and non-profits on how to navigate change, crises, and complexities.
The position combines handling client work with assisting the President/CEO and other executives of the company. It’s a unique opportunity to both work for a variety of diverse clients while also working closely with the firm’s most senior executives as a virtual administrative assistant. Recent graduates who have 1-2 years of relevant internship experience are best-suited for this position at Breakwater. We’re open to skilled communicators and strategic thinkers of all educational tracks, and value diversity; a degree or internship in communications isn’t a prerequisite for this entry-level role.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as assistant to the President/CEO of the company, including helping with scheduling and organization
- Monitor and/or compile daily press clips for clients
- Assist client teams in prep for meetings/pitches
- Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, owned media content, etc.)
- Build and maintain press lists
- Pitch wide variety of media contacts
- Prepare briefing documents, talking points, etc.
- Administrative support for client teams and staff, including scheduling, preparing and submitting expense reports, booking travel, and filtering internal and external requests
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 1-2 years of relevant internship/work experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong writing and research skills
