Position Overview
The Content Strategist develops and executes content marketing and digital marketing strategies that drive engagement and deliver results for (W)right On Communications’ client partners and the agency. This role is responsible for content creation, community management, analytics and evaluation across owned, shared and paid media platforms. This may include content calendars and social media campaigns with marketing programs to boost visibility including search engine optimization strategies where required. Working closely with the agency’s Creative Services team, content production may include short and long-form videos, graphics, photos, webinars and written content such as white papers or blog posts. The Content Strategist works with the account team to develop creative briefs and provide strategic direction and collaborates on concepts and strategies with the Creative Services team to bring client messages and brands to life.
The Content Strategist always represents the agency brand to client partners as a savvy, imaginative and trusted nationally recognized agency. This is demonstrated by strong relationships with and understanding of client partners' industries and needs, bringing fresh strategies and solutions and exemplifying and leading industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy Development, Execution and Evaluation
- Build and maintain trust with client partners through proactive communication, effective project management, and consistent delivery of high-quality content.
- Develop comprehensive or targeted content strategies, depending on the client’s budget and timeline, that integrate with overall agency marketing and communications plans to meet client partners’ goals.
- Analyze content performance metrics to inform strategy adjustments and report ROI to client partners.
- Maintain close communication with agency leads to help manage budget, timelines, client partner expectations and results.
Content Creation and Management
- Create engaging, SEO-optimized content for blogs, social media, and other platforms that resonates with target audiences and drives engagement.
- Collaborate with Creative Services and the agency’s team members to ensure content is visually appealing, on-brand, timely produced and within budget.
- Manage content calendars to ensure timely publication and alignment with strategic goals.
- Engage with client partner audiences and build their communities on social media.
- Capture videos and images to be distributed on social media.
- Comfortable in front of a camera and is familiar with video editing.
- Continuously learns and adapts new content trends and digital tools among all agency team members.
Agency Contribution
- Participate in agency marketing initiatives by contributing content expertise to agency-owned channels.
- Engage in business development activities by supporting proposal development, contributing content strategies to existing client partners and prospects and participating in pitches.
- Contribute to the agency's culture and professional development programs by sharing knowledge and best practices.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, PR or journalism.
- Proven experience in content strategy and digital marketing with an emphasis on outcomes.
- Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinker who brings fresh ideas and takes to content in order to drive engagement.
- Curious mind capable of understanding various industries, business models and audience needs.
- Expertise in SEO, content management systems and social media platforms.
- Ability to measure and analyze data and use insights to improve content effectiveness.
- Strong presentation skills and experience advocating for ideas and strategies.
- Team player who prefers working in and contributing to a structured team environment and collaborative culture.
- Experience working with influencers is a plus.
Occasional travel may be required depending on client partner needs and project specifics. Participation in industry events and maintaining a visible presence in relevant professional communities is encouraged.
