Senior Manager, Project Development and Data Reporting

The Senior Manager, Project Development & Data Reporting oversees the design, development, implementation of data architecture and system integration, as well as support a common data reporting resources for enterprise use to increase discoverability of research administration data under the direction of the Director within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK) Information Systems. Identifies and oversees complex technology integrations necessary for interfacing with internal and external vendors. Actively engages campus partners to establish enterprise data containing research administration data and participates in establishing and maintaining data discovery tools, such as search engines for internal and external OSU customers.
Oversees a qualified team of experts responsible for analyzing key performance indicators related to ERIK processes to assist units and leadership in strategic initiative decisions, providing recommendations to Director. Oversees a team responsible for the entire system data life cycle, ensuring development standards, processes, and compliance standards are met, as appropriate. Leads and supervises, including conducting performance reviews and supporting Information Systems staff members on the data reporting team. Provides expertise, guidance and mentoring to the data and reporting team in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and reporting processes to identify relevant data for reporting requests.
Oversees the maintenance of the internal data dictionary of available data and sources to help campus software developers, report creators, and business analysts more easily utilize research administration data. Participates in establishing the internal data dictionary as a campus-wide resource; Participates in creating short- and long-range strategic goals with the Director as it relates to the data reporting and Information Systems teams.
Works closely with colleagues across the university to develop efficiencies and establish relationships within the team. Manages the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff. Works closely with leadership to identify and recommend opportunities or enhancements within the ERIK Information Systems team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer and information science, or computer engineering. Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience. Extensive experience with data management including: XML data formats, JSON data formats, MS SQL, REST APIs and other web-based languages determined necessary to support the Electronic Research Administration business applications. Extensive experience with ETL processes. Experience with data reporting portals such as Tableau or SQL Server Reporting Services. Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure data services.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s or advanced degree in information systems, computer and information science, or computer engineering. 12+ years of relevant work experience; Extensive knowledge of system, database, and program design techniques. Experience with GraphQL APIs. Experience with search and analytics engines such as ElasticSearch, AWS OpenSearch, or Apache Lucene. AWS and/or Azure certifications. Strong written and verbal skills required. Project management experience.
