Client is a construction company specializing in mechanical work based in Queens, NY. We are looking for an experienced Controller with construction industry experience to join our growth-oriented company.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain financial controls and procedures for all construction projects.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for each project, including budget vs actual analysis and cash flow projections.
- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost reports, payroll, 941s, 1099s, W2s, yearly WIP schedules for insurance estimates.
- Oversee weekly union reporting and compliance requirements.
- Oversee union audits.
- Creates quarterly P&L statements.
- Prepares annual budgets and year end tax data for accounting partners.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulations, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Coordinate with project managers to review project budgets and ensure cost control measures are in place.
- Monitor project expenses and report any variances to senior management.
- Work closely with the project team to identify and manage project risks.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including banks and other financial institutions.
- Delegates and supervises accounting team overseeing subsidiary accounts, credit card statements, timecard review & entry, petty cash & POs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years professional accounting experience with 5+ years in construction accounting and 5+ years in senior, manager or controller role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Experience with project management and cost control.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in SAGE or Quickbooks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
