As a Database Analyst, you will be instrumental in the modernization of significant public health initiatives. Your expertise in managing and analyzing data will support an increasing number of recipients and services while addressing complex challenges in data collection, management, analysis, visualization, and communication. You will ensure that our solutions are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain various databases for public health data.
- Collaborate with analysts and subject matter experts to implement efficient database systems.
- Monitor database performance and suggest enhancements when necessary.
- Evaluate the current database architecture for scalability, security, and compliance with best practices.
- Develop an implementation strategy for advanced data analytics capabilities.
- Define requirements for data collection and analysis tools to extract valuable insights.
- Assess strengths and weaknesses in existing database architecture.
- Ensure data quality and compliance with relevant regulations and privacy standards.
- Create automated validation scripts to identify data errors for review and correction.
- Manage schedules to meet project deliverables while documenting the software development lifecycle.
- Execute tasks independently while fostering collaboration across teams.
Required Skills
- Proficient in database systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL for efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including advanced SQL querying techniques.
- Experience in designing normalized database schemas with effective indexing strategies.
- Familiarity with database migration tools (e.g., Alembic) for schema updates.
- Understanding of public health data and related privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PII).
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven years of experience in database administration.
- A Public Trust clearance with the U.S. federal government (or ability to obtain one).
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, GIS, or a relevant field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
