Job Overview
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented Web Administrator to join our team in supporting a prestigious university and research institution. This remote position is a unique chance to make a significant impact on the development and enhancement of web content across various sites within the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with CTL staff to ensure timely and accurate updates to website content, following established style guidelines and brand standards.
- Oversee the editorial review and quality assurance processes, offering constructive feedback to content creators based on an understanding of the editorial workflow.
- Ensure that newly created and revised web pages are user-friendly, properly linked, and compliant with university standards for accessibility.
- Collect and maintain content from CTL and related groups, as well as develop new content as necessary.
- Edit images for web use by cropping and resizing, ensuring the inclusion of accessibility features such as alt text.
- Optimize web content for performance, which may involve reformatting text, verifying hyperlink integrity, and managing updates using the Drupal content management system (CMS) and HTML.
- Identify and address content-related issues, including broken links and formatting discrepancies.
- Participate in meetings with the Teaching Commons Web Team and engage in relevant discussions.
Required Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of presenting ideas in an accessible and user-friendly manner.
- Familiarity with web publishing tools and a solid understanding of web standards and usability principles.
- Knowledge of user experience principles and information architecture.
- Proficiency in HTML and related website development technologies.
- General knowledge of office applications is advantageous.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Preferred familiarity with educational and pedagogical content.
