Position Overview:
We are offering an unpaid internship for a motivated Software/RF Intern to join our team. This position provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in RF signal generation, RF principles, and AI/ML model training, working closely with seasoned engineers in a collaborative environment. You will be directly involved in generating and processing RF data to train advanced machine learning models for real-world applications, such as object detection and tracking.

Key Learning Opportunities and Responsibilities:- Gain practical experience in developing software solutions for RF data generation using GNU Radio and/or liquid-dsp/plasma-dsp frameworks.
- Learn to design and implement realistic RF signal simulations, including target detection, clutter modeling, and environmental conditions like multi-path propagation effects.
- Collaborate with experienced AI/ML engineers to align RF data generation with the requirements for deep learning model training.
- Develop skills in optimizing RF signal generation algorithms to produce diverse datasets with varying signal characteristics and noise levels.
- Get hands-on experience integrating SDR platforms to collect and process real-world RF data for use in machine learning pipelines.
- Learn to create APIs and toolchains to streamline the labeling and generation of large RF datasets.
- Support R&D efforts by conducting experiments that validate RF data fidelity for AI/ML applications.
- Participate in documentation of the software design, workflows, and data generation processes to contribute to the team's shared knowledge base.
Preferred Qualifications and Learning Objectives:- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic familiarity with GNU Radio and/or liquid-dsp or plasma-dsp frameworks, with opportunities to deepen this knowledge through practical application.
- A basic understanding of RF systems, signal processing, and RF principles, with support to expand this expertise through hands-on learning.
- Experience or coursework in Python and C++ programming for DSP and RF data generation, with opportunities to develop these skills in a real-world context.
- Familiarity with SDR platforms (e.g., USRP, HackRF, LimeSDR), with opportunities to work with these systems to process RF data.
- Basic knowledge of RF waveforms (e.g., FMCW, pulse-Doppler) and digital communication techniques, with guidance from experts to apply this knowledge in projects.
- Interest in AI/ML concepts and RF data preparation for training machine learning models, with a focus on real-world applications.
