Job Title: Non-Clinical - Administrative - Medical Staff Coordinator
Location (On-site, Remote, or Hybrid?): Orange, CA (remote)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Work Hours: Day 5x8-Hour (06:30 - 14:30) | Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 16:00)
Job Responsibilities/Summary
Plan, organize, manage and coordinate support to the Medical Staff organization in carrying out its delegated responsibilities as shown in Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of St. Joseph Hospital in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Organizes and coordinates efficiencies in workflow management to accomplish departmental objectives.
- Develops and implements policies and systems to effectively manage all aspects of Medical Staff activities and meet regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements.
- Prioritizes responsibilities of office and coordinates all functions to support Medical Staff committees / leadership and manages time and resources to support programs within budget allocations.
- Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards for the medical staff, participates in surveys, works with medical staff to develop and implement program or policy changes to meet regulatory and accreditation standards, and documents performance in compliance with those standards.
- Provides consultative support to hospital and medical staff members on bylaws, rules & regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Works with staff leaders to develop procedural changes to support medical staff and hospital.
- Develops and implements changes to improve efficiencies in workflow management; and performs special projects to meet the needs of the department, the medical staff, and/or St. Joseph Hospital / Health system.
- Maintains effective communications with medical staff leaders, administration, management, and others with whom the department interacts.
- Assists department director in analyzing and selecting software to support office functions, and in developing and providing orientation and training for new staff members.
- Provides department oversight in the absence of the director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience as a Medical Staff Coordinator in an acute care hospital for a minimum of 3 years
- Knowledge of Joint Commission standards relating to Medical Staff
- Experience working with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations
- Experience supporting the Medical Staff functions such as coordinating a Medical Staff meeting, drafting agendas, and taking meeting minutes
- Experience with proctoring and privileging matters
- CPMSM Certification is preferred
- Candidates with credentialing experience only and Administrative/Executive Assistants are not qualified as a Medical Staff Coordinator
- Preference for candidates with MD Staff experience
