Workday Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation and management of Workday systems within an organization. Their duties revolve around planning, executing, and ensuring Workday projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

Key duties include:
- Project Planning & Initiation:
- Develop project scope: Define clear project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria for the Workday implementation.
- Create detailed project plans: Establish timelines, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure smooth execution.
- Stakeholder management: Engage with key stakeholders, including HR, finance, IT, and other departments, to gather requirements and set expectations.
- Risk assessment: Identify and assess potential project risks, creating mitigation strategies to minimize impact on the project timeline or budget.
- Team Management & Coordination:
- Lead cross-functional teams: Coordinate with internal teams (HR, IT) and external consultants or vendors to implement Workday solutions.
- Task assignment and delegation: Ensure team members have clear tasks and deadlines, coordinating efforts between functional and technical teams.
- Training & enablement: Facilitate training for users and project teams to ensure smooth adoption of the Workday system.
- Project Execution & Monitoring:
- Monitor project progress: Track deliverables, timelines, and budgets using project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Issue resolution: Identify and resolve project issues and roadblocks that could hinder progress.
- Status reporting: Provide regular status updates to key stakeholders and senior management, detailing project health, risks, and milestones.
- Change management: Manage scope changes, ensuring any changes to the project are documented and approved, adjusting plans as needed.
- System Configuration & Testing:
- Oversee Workday configuration: Work with technical teams to ensure Workday is configured to meet organizational needs (e.g., HCM, Payroll, Financials, Talent Management).
- Testing & quality assurance: Ensure comprehensive testing (unit, integration, user acceptance testing) is conducted before Workday goes live.
- Data migration & validation: Manage data migration activities, ensuring data from legacy systems is accurately moved to Workday and validated.
- Go-Live & Post-Implementation Support:
- Go-live preparation: Develop and execute a detailed go-live plan, ensuring smooth system rollout with minimal disruption.
- Post-go-live support: Coordinate post-implementation support to resolve any issues, provide ongoing training, and monitor system performance.
- Project closure: Document lessons learned, close out project deliverables, and transition to ongoing support and maintenance teams.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage project budget: Ensure that the project stays within the allocated budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Vendor management: Oversee relationships with Workday vendors and consultants, ensuring they meet project deliverables and timelines.
- Resource optimization: Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that the team has the right skills and tools to succeed.
- Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
- Stakeholder engagement: Maintain ongoing communication with business leaders, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are aligned.
- Prepare project reports: Provide detailed reports on project status, risks, and any decisions required by leadership.
- Manage executive updates: Present regular updates to senior management on project progress, financials, risks, and potential impacts on the business.
- 5+ years of project management experience in HR, IT, or Finance systems, with at least 3 years of experience managing Workday implementations.
- Strong understanding of Workday modules such as HCM, Payroll, Financials, Recruiting, or Talent Management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, cross-functional projects, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
