Job Description: Baseball Statistician Summer 2025

Position Overview:
This is a summer (June 1 - July 30) full-time paid position on-site role as the Statistician for the Plymouth Rockets, a member of The Shoreline Baseball League, located in Metro Detroit, MI. The applicant will manage and utilize the GameTime application, the Leagues platform for tracking live stats and play-by-play updates. In addition to this, the applicant will assist the coaching staff with small game-day tasks as needed. Reliable transportation is required for attending games, practices, and meetings. The applicant must be PRESENT FOR ALL home and away games, which are played on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM and Friday/Saturday doubleheaders starting at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM EST.
Most games are played in the Metro Detroit area, However the farthest games will be in Jackson and Midland, Michigan, and Toledo, Ohio. The Plymouth Rockets' roster consists of amateur players from NAIA, NJCAA, and NCAA-sanctioned colleges and universities, playing a 30-40 game schedule from June to July and the first week of August if the team makes the playoffs. Knowledge of the game of baseball is essential for this role. This could be a great opportunity for someone who is an aspiring statistician and has a love for the game of baseball.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of baseball metrics, rules, and strategies.
- Previous knowledge of the GameTime application is preferred, or the ability to quickly learn and adapt to the app for tracking live stats and play-by-play updates.
- Reliable transportation is required for attending games, practices, and team meetings.
- Must be available for all home and away games played on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM and Friday/Saturday doubleheaders starting at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during the baseball season.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and a passion for baseball.
Work Environment:
- Interaction with the coaching staff, players, and front office on a regular basis.
- The applicant could spend long periods standing, as most games will be worked in the dugout with the team, creating a fun atmosphere.
