Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to perform advanced clerical accounting and financial operations with limited supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with budgets and established guidelines. This role requires effective communication with various divisions and external contacts to provide updates on account statuses and check requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish new accounts in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor the activity of existing accounts and maintain awareness of budgetary constraints.
- Review and process check requests while ensuring adherence to procedural guidelines.
- Verify funding and ensure the accuracy of all submitted paperwork.
- Conduct thorough research and reconciliation of accounts to resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate with local units, divisional headquarters, and external vendors regarding account statuses.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of financial information and prepare reports as needed.
- Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff.
- Perform additional accounting-related duties as required.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Previous experience with the Salvation Army is preferred.
