Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Administrator for a 6-month hybrid contract position in Raleigh, NC. This critical role involves providing support for over 300 SQL databases across three Data Centers and two Cloud Providers for NC DHHS.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct performance analysis, tuning, and capacity planning for SQL Servers.
- Collaborate with Database Administrators (DBAs) and Developers to resolve database and application issues.
- Proactively monitor the database environment to ensure optimal performance and preemptively address potential production challenges.
- Manage and follow up on Service Request tickets to ensure prompt resolution of database problems.
- Provide Production On-Call Support on a rotational basis, including off-hours and weekends.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in SQL database monitoring and performance tuning.
- Proficient in the installation and configuration of SQL Server versions 2014, 2016, and 2019.
- Skilled in configuring and utilizing SSIS and SSRS for package creation and report deployment.
- Strong background in database maintenance, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of high availability solutions and disaster recovery practices.
- Competent in SQL tuning, data migration, and supporting enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with Windows administration and PowerShell scripting is advantageous.
- Experience with transaction replication and managing SQL databases in clustered environments is essential.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of proven experience as a SQL Server Administrator.
- Strong understanding of database monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Well-versed in managing high-availability setups and disaster recovery processes.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
