A leader in the Financial Industry for Innovation, LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) have a unique opportunity to be part of the Commodities Development Team. We are building the next generation data platform that will underpin the £170m commodities business that deals with nearly 150TB data. Having recently received funding for a major re-platforming project for a cloud based solution and we need you to get this underway! The current CBD is development on Oracle and Java. This team are also crafting and implementing feature enhancements to our existing platform based on customer / product demand.
What you'll be doing:
- Advance tools and applications by producing expert code and the right solutions needed
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of technologies and/or SME knowledge of a technology, advising others on design, development and implementation
- Own the delivery of critical projects, working autonomously and with little direction; may ensure the timely completion of work from other team members, delegating work when required and mentoring others
- Lead design work and planning for Epics breaking them down to journeys with product owners and quality leads
- Handle own workload and promote open culture
- Develop an understanding of the market and LSEG's commercial position in it
- Work with product team and architects to decompose a solution into Epics
- Adapt existing patterns to develop robust solutions
- Build positive relationships with internal and external team members, growing own network and collaborating with other teams
- Communicate sophisticated technical information clearly and concisely in an audience appropriate format
- Continue to develop technology and industry expertise through certifications and professional qualifications
What you'll bring:
- Entrepreneurial mentality to encourage changes in current infrastructure
- Significant knowledge of at least one programming language
- Proven track in a software development and delivery role
- Strong experience of multiple development technologies and knowledge of when patterns are appropriate and solutions are anti-patterns
- 3+ years experience in building Big Data platforms with technologies like databricks;
- Experience developing data platforms in Cloud
- 10+ years managing global development software teams;
- Experience of Commodities Business in Finance is preferred
- Experience in Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance.
Workstyle model:
We know balance is the key, therefore we propose hybrid way of working. You are welcome to work from our brand-new office every day, but you have still an opportunity to stay at home if needed. In this position we expect you are in the Gdynia office 3-4 days a month.
