We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support Government clients. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing and optimizing data pipelines to handle large volumes of healthcare-related data, in particular provider data. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data flows efficiently and securely while adhering to the standards.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of data pipelines specific to healthcare datasets in compliance with Government and project guidelines
- Develop and execute ETL/ELT code to process large volumes of transactional data
- Support the design and enhancement of a Data Integration Architecture to ensure regulatory compliance and performance optimization
- Collaborate with the DevSecOps team to deploy CI/CD pipelines for continuous data integration aligned with Open Payments' update cycles
- Analyze the architecture to identify weaknesses and propose improvements, particularly in handling large datasets and ensuring data quality for public reporting
- Use AWS Glue, Data Pipeline, Step Functions, and similar tools to orchestrate data movement, ensuring data is accessible for reporting and analysis
- Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data architecture
- Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and system improvements for real-time data processing
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in IT, with at least 3+ years working in cloud-based data engineering environments (AWS cloud platforms)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and setting up and working with data pipeline tools such as AWS Glue and Step Functions
- Hands-on relational DB / NoSQL experience (PostgreSQL or similar) with specific implementation on cloud
- Working experience with Transactional and Dimensional data modeling methodologies (Eg: Normalization, Star Schema, Snowflake Schema)
- Experience working with data warehouses such as Redshift to open source and proprietary cloud data pipeline tools such as Airflow, Glue, Data Pipeline, Step functions
- Experience working with relational databases that handle structured and semi-structured (JSON) datasets
- Experience with data serialization languages such as JSON, XML, YAML
- Experience with code management tools (e.g. Git, SVN) and DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins, Docker, AWS Code Pipeline)
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability
- Experience working with a distributed computing environment like AWS EMR or similar
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Good to have skills/Certifications:
- Agile certification
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
- Prior experience with Center for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) or other Govt agencies is a plus
U.S. Residency Requirement:
- Must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years
- Must be able to pass background investigations and obtain Public Trust clearance
