Meeting and Special Events Service Manager
Shutters on the Beach and Casa Del Mar are luxury hotels located on the beach in Santa Monica, California. They are owned and operated by the Edward Thomas Collection of Hotels.
We are seeking a talented and seasoned Meeting and Special Events Services Manager to join our team!
The position is responsible for fully servicing catering events (including weddings) and convention group meetings with all needs during the planning process and while on property. To include but not limited to food and beverage needs, room reservation needs and any special activities for Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Participates in the development of the annual departmental marketing plan.
- Assists in preparation of the business forecast.
- Coordinates with meeting and event planners in order to produce successful meetings and events.
- Reacts to guests needs in a timely manner.
- Obtains the latest information of groups past performance from Sales and Catering Sales Departments.
- Communicates all pertinent information on group/event requirements to appropriate departments.
- Prepares and distributes event orders and resumes and conducts pre-convention meeting with convention executives and appropriate department heads.
- Completes post-convention critique and sends to appropriate departments.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced and customer service-oriented environment.
- Perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently.
- Exercise problem solving skills and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
Qualifications:
- Experience working for a luxury hotel events and catering is a Must.
- Previous leadership experience within a similar role required.
- Proven track record of servicing catering events(including weddings) and convention group meetings effectively with a strong attention to detail.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Window applications required.
- Ability to multi-task & maintain poise and a sense of humor amidst a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Four year degree from a college or university or equivalent; or three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous guest relations training and experience, preferably in a luxury hospitality setting.
- Ability to manage a budget and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Ability to solve complex problems in an organized manner.
- Exceptional communication skills, passionate, strategic and innovative.
- Able to develop strong work relationships with both Clients and Colleagues.
- Self-confident, proactive, and able to prioritize and make effective decisions.
