We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to join our New York Credit Risk Management team working to support our Project Finance and Corporate clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing the risks associated with our Project Finance transactions in North America focused on renewable transactions across solar, wind and batteries. You will work within a team of talented and highly collaborative Coverage and Risk professionals. You will have responsibility for risk analysis and decision making. Specific experience with Project Finance is highly desirable.

Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is the Line 1 function of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) responsible for managing relationships with major corporates, banks, non-bank financial institutions, government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.
IB&M Risk Management is responsible for the Line 2 oversight and Risk Management of IB&M’s activities in Australia and internationally in New Zealand, New York, London, Amsterdam, Singapore, Hong Kong & Shanghai.
Do work that matters:
Together with your Risk Management colleagues and in partnership with the IB&M Line 1 teams, you will be responsible for ensuring that all business is consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite. This involves not only excellent risk analysis and experienced use of a credit approval delegation, but an ability to identify emerging risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Embedding ESG considerations into risk analysis and a genuine desire to continually seek better and more efficient ways of doing things, are also critical elements in the success of this very important role.
In any given week you will:
- Work as the senior risk adviser in a deal team environment to analyse clients and structures, prepare credit submissions and provide risk decisions or recommendations. This will include providing guidance on deal structuring, approval processes and policies, and developing risk management strategies.
- Monitor and analyse market developments and global industry trends and provide guidance and advice to senior management on risk management matters related to the portfolio.
- Present transactions and industry reports as the accountable Risk Senior Manager at various internal credit and business committee forums.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including internal business units, senior members of IB&M and Risk, and industry groups.
- Collaborate with other risk management teams to ensure alignment of risk management strategies across the organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement within the team through both individual team member development and process/policy/procedure simplification projects.
- Lead and mentor junior team members and be an integral part of a very collaborative team with a high value placed on a strong team culture.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
- Curious minds with a minimum of 8 years of experience in credit risk management at a financial institution, with 3-5 years of experience in project finance risk preferred;
- Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline;
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management, and internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team;
- Proficient problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, and experience in exercising a meaningful delegation.
The salary range for this role is from $195,000 to $250,000. The salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
