Description
We are in search of a Systems Administrator to join our team in the Managed Services industry, situated in Westfield, Massachusetts. This role involves supporting and managing IT systems, including installing and updating server hardware and operating systems, handling high-level system and network issues, and staying current with emerging technologies. This position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Implement new networking and server hardware, along with Server operating systems.
- Address high-level system and network issues, including performance, outages, and security incidents.
- Handle multiple projects concurrently, ensuring successful results.
- Design and update technical documentation for system and network configurations.
- Regularly communicate with project managers and clients on progress, upcoming changes, or agreed outages.
- Participate in complex project engagements, contributing technical expertise.
- Stay informed about current and future technologies emerging in the industry.
- Provide support for Microsoft related technologies, including Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Office 365.
- Gain familiarity with cloud solutions and architecture, such as Microsoft Azure.
- Understand protocols such as SNMP for troubleshooting and TCP/IP technologies such as DHCP, DNS, and related troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with Hyper-V and VMware Hypervisors is necessary.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Windows Server 2016 is required
- Must have experience working with VMware
- Experience with Network Monitoring Tools is necessary
- Must have a minimum of three years experience in a Systems Administrator role or similar within the Managed Services industry
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure is essential
- Must have strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and clients
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is desirable
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or CompTIA Network+ are advantageous
- Must have a keen eye for detail and excellent troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery is desirable
- Availability for on-call response to system issues outside of business hours is required
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms is beneficial
- Must have excellent customer service skills and a client-focused approach.
