Title: Software Engineer - AR/VR

We want to investigate the feasibility of running VR applications on PC or Cloud without recompiling them, leveraging advanced gaming infrastructure. This initiative aims to lay the groundwork for an XR Omni-Runtime, which will accelerate development and ease maintenance of VR headsets, VR Cloud, AR glasses and other HMD's.

In addition to paving the way for future BYOC cloud-based VR solutions, there is an immediate business demand to trial VR games without purchase or download.

In discussions with our various gaming partners, we understand that they can run Android apps in the cloud on X86 architecture with a 10-15% performance hit compared to the app compiled natively on that architecture.

Milestones

Run VR applications on a local PC: This would likely involve no input and only visual output on the PC.
Create a fully functioning system: Inputs are sent from the headset to the PC, and visuals are displayed on the headset. We will prioritize achieving full functionality quickly, even if it means accepting lower performance, latency, and reduced functionality initially. We have different development paths thought and planned out.
Measure and improve: Provide a detailed breakdown and improve performance, latency, and functionality so most games can be played without discomfort.
Identify initial launch target: Develop a ship plan based on the chosen development path.
