This document provides basic information for the work performed. It may or may not be all inclusive of tasks to be performed.
General
The Quality Assurance Manager works with the Production Manager, and VP of Structural, to control and maintain product quality. This person will implement the Quality program and initiate actions resulting in acceptable solutions, has authority to halt production when necessary, and to reject or accept work.
Essential Duties
Controls Shop Master Detail Drawings for the duration of a project.
Works with designated Production Supervisor to assure understanding of all aspects of a project.
Works with receiving supervisor to assure materials received meet the project standards.
Verifies materials used in the project meet the designated standard as per the drawings and standards.
Works together with Project Manager and Detailing Departments to assure products are functional without design defects, and meeting the customer’s requirements
Oversees workmanship and trains or corrects employees in meeting acceptable quality standards.
Certifies that quality testing procedures and equipment are effective in achieving desired quality standards.
Performs quality verification in a timely manner to meet production deadlines and delivery schedules.
Keeps supervisors apprised of any nonconformance to customer requirements or project standards and works together with supervisors to remedy these issues.
As necessary will perform welding, layout, tool or other pre-employment testing.
Safety
Strives to maintain a safe and injury free work environment.
Uses and maintains required personal protective equipment as outlined in the 44 Iron Design Safety Manual
Qualification Requirements
5 years of steel fabrication experience minimum.
Must be a documented, Certified Welding Inspector.
Knowledge and clear understanding of Shop Detail Drawings.
Knowledge of AISC Standards.
Basic understanding of data entry.
Intermediate computers skills with emphasis in Microsoft Office products. Experience with or ability to learn Tekla software.
Knowledge and understanding of steel shapes, sizes of steel, and other products.
Ability to read and use tape measure, and other measuring instruments.
Ability to stand for extended periods up to four hours.
Ability to sit for extended periods of up to four hours.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds.
Ability to pass a preemployment drug screen.
Working Conditions
Temperature and humidity variances consistent with normal outdoor ranges. Climate control in the facilities is limited. May occasionally require working outdoors.
Air contaminates such as smoke and dust may be present but are below the recognized TLV.
The presence of electrical and compressed air sources.
The presence of bottled gas and oxygen.
The presence of chemicals.
The presence of moving equipment, lift trucks, or other vehicles.
May be subject to cramped working conditions in some cases.
Exposure to flying particles, hot metals, or molten metal.
Exposure to light radiation from welding or plasma cutting.
Exposure to sharp edges and points on steel and abrasive tools.
Exposure to falling or rolling steel.
