Role Overview
The Backend Engineer will and focus on system architecture behind a lot of their most popular products.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecting and implementing backend systems in TypeScript/Node is the core of what you’ll be doing. Real examples include:
- Designing and building an ingestion pipeline for our Analytics (> 99.99% uptime on Kafka, Clickhouse, Redis)
- Building out an A/B testing platform (Cloudflare)
- Spiking on our CI platform to improve stability
- Deploying a multi-tenant NextJS app to render pages on Cloudflare and automatically revalidate in response to queued webhook handlers
- Mentoring junior engineers on best-practices
- Collaborate with founders on vision, strategy, and product roadmap.
- Manage technical infrastructure (databases, servers, APIs) with a focus on scalability and security.
- Lead and mentor a growing team of engineers.

Core Requirements
- 6+ Years of Professional Experience with production distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Expertise in Distributed Systems and SOA, including load balancers, databases, queuing, caching, HTTP, APIs, high-availability, fault tolerance, redundancy, and at-least-two-of-everything.
- Full-Stack Development Capability, with willingness to work on frontend tasks even if it's not the primary role.
- Continuous Delivery Mindset, consistently shipping features without prolonged planning phases.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, or experience with Python/Go/Java with a willingness to learn TypeScript/Node.
- Experience or Working Knowledge of React.
- Product and Customer-Focused Mindset.
- Experience with Deployment and Maintenance Issues, including strong opinions on product development methodologies.
- Commitment to Writing Clean, Maintainable Software, including thorough documentation.
- Comfort with Ambiguity and the ability to define software architecture patterns to solve customer pain points.
