Content Manager
Purpose: This position brainstorms, creates, and transforms ideas into written content that positions the company as a thought leader in the science education marketplace. Writes engaging copy that clearly communicates the brand and inspires people to interact with our brand and products across all channels. Supports the Marketing Team in brainstorming, creating, and transforming content to achieve results.

PRIMARY Responsibilities:
Content Calendar Management:
- Maintain a content calendar that aligns with marketing campaigns, including social media and email channels.
- Create new and repurpose existing content to meet the needs of our customers and marketing campaigns.
Content Creation & Thought Leadership:
- Research and develop clear, concise, and conversational copy, including short-form (headlines, digital banners and social posts) and long-form (i.e., campaigns, emails, blogs, articles, etc.) to position the company as a thought leader in science education and specifically homeschooling science.
- Develop collateral for trade shows and conferences for B2B in collaboration with other team members.
- Develop content experiences ranging from guided selling, landing page support, and SEO with support of the Marketing team, incorporating SEO best practices into all web content.
- Write scripts to support videos produced by the Marketing team for products (unboxing, how-to's, etc.), campaigns, or social media.
Manage Website & Product Copy:
- Write new website copy and continuously improve existing website content to effectively communicate and relate products, categories, and articles with our customers.
- Optimize new product descriptions for SEO and complete marketing reviews to make new/revised products live (about 25 new and 25 revised per year).
Proofreading & Editing:
- Proofread and edit all written copy for spelling and grammar errors as well as maintaining writing style guides and ensuring a consistent brand voice across all marketing and company-wide messaging as needed.
- Proofread, and edit all marketing collateral for marketing projects and events.
- Proofread, and edit copy for all emails (B2C and B2B).
- Ensure the company brand voice is consistent, vibrant, and integrated into all written copy and content.
SECONDARY RESPOSIBILITIES
- Contribute to team collaboration and meetings.
- Manage scorecards related to role responsibilities, consistently identifying areas for improvement.
- Organize and manage content files and collaborate with the Marketing team to align on needs.
- Make edits and updates to articles pages on the Resource Center and BigCommerce site to support campaigns and SEO.
- Create content for social media in support of Social Media manager as needed.
- Update and optimize existing product descriptions and pages for SEO (goal is 5/week).
- Review and edit product instructions and Science Unlocked manuals written by the Product Team.
- Manage social media (Facebook) community groups in collaboration with social media manager, creating and sharing unique content as needed.
- Manage web chat platform, writing and implementing guided selling improvements.
- Write and edit copy and verify pricing on B2C and B2B print catalog(s).
- Write and publish internal monthly HST newsletter.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, Writing, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 4+ years of content marketing experience.
- Alignment with Home Science Tools’ core values.
- Loves to write content that engages people and draws them in.
- Able to effectively research and write new content.
- Able to determine what makes products appealing to consumers and communicate that in a highly relevant engaging manner.
- Strong writing and editing skills with actual experience copywriting and proofreading preferred.
- Has a natural curiosity and interest in science.
- Able to think creatively.
- Basic HTML skills and/or design.
- A self- motivated, self-starting team player, able to task-switch and prioritize daily workload, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines, all with proper attention to detail.
- Understanding of product marketing, merchandising, SEO and UX principles.
- A strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability and willingness to quickly learn other software tools.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Located in Billings, Montana (remote work is an option for this position)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Auditory ability to listen attentively in a busy office environment.
- Good close, distance and peripheral vision.
- Ability to handle stressful situations such as dealing with conflict in a respectful manner.
