Who We Are
Lilypad Learning helps public schools evaluate students for learning disabilities by remotely connecting them with school psychologists.
There is a nationwide shortage of school psychologists and schools face an intractable problem: their budgets are being decimated by lawsuits for missing federally mandated special education timelines and there isn’t enough school psychologists available to provide the support schools need.
All students in special education must receive something called a
psychoeducational evaluation every three years for the school to remain compliant. Today, these evaluations take a psychologist 10-12 hours per student, with 70% of that time spent on laborious report writing.
With the help of LLMs, we are automating away report writing, allowing psychologists to complete 4x more evaluations per week, and enabling school districts to remain compliant while their students get the support they need fast.
Today, we are supporting more than 10 public school districts, and have received backing from top VCs, such as XYZ Venture Capital, Dorm Room Fund, SBXi & Expansion VC. We are eager to scale quickly across the 13,700 districts in the US as we help schools everywhere support students with learning disabilities.
The Role
We are looking for a accomplished engineer who will own the building and execution of our school psychologist platform. This will include automation of the work-flows psychologists complete every day, and more complex report-writing that consume their valuable time, with the dream of eventually automating parts of the evaluation process itself. We have found PMF and now want to build tech that will give us infinite leverage, allowing us to scale rapidly and solve this problem for the entire country. It’s a solid technical challenge that will bring tremendous economic value as well as help millions of kids across the country.

Here Are Some Things We’d Love To See, But We’re Open To Being Convinced You’re The Right Candidate
- 4+ years experience engineering:
- Bonus points for early engineering hire at a start-up
- Bonus points for experience across 2+ companies
- Bonus points for experience in EdTech or digital health
- Led teams of 3+ engineers
- Design / product-led approach to building software
- Strong UX and design taste
- Ready to lead the full stack build with high level of front-end product input
- Able to see the macro picture: what tech can let us do and the structural societal problems we are trying to solve
Expectations
- In-person / Hybrid in NYC / Brooklyn (in-person presence is best)
Compensation And Benefits
