Job Overview
We are in search of a dedicated and people-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Analyst/Tester, providing essential support to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to EPA Headquarters in Washington, DC, as project requirements dictate.
Your Impact on the Mission
In this integral role, you will support the EPA in software development testing and business analysis, focusing on systems that facilitate the implementation of fuel and fuel additive regulations, including renewable fuels. A deep understanding of regulations, policies, and IT systems related to EPA programs governing transportation fuel production will be critical for your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing within an agile development team, providing technical guidance for personnel involved in software development tasks.
- Collaborate with the Scrum Master, Technical Manager, and/or Program Manager to address issues and ensure user satisfaction.
- Create and present presentations on system concepts and requirements to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Elicit requirements through interviews, documentation reviews, regulatory analysis, workshops, and business process descriptions.
- Communicate proactively with users and stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
- Assist project managers in completing and delivering project outputs while maintaining awareness of project deadlines.
- Balance customer expectations with the effectiveness of applications.
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Solid analytical skills and proficiency in creating and updating epics and user stories.
- Familiarity with web-based IT systems and applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while working collaboratively with a team in both remote and in-person settings.
- A proactive approach to learning, coupled with a curious mindset.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Environmental Science, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in software development requirements analysis and testing within complex environments.
- Experience in business process analysis, particularly in software development projects.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence is advantageous.
- Demonstrated capability to work within an agile development team in a remote environment.
