The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst is an entry level position that will be part of a passionate team that is focused on identifying and preventing cyber threats to Casey's. You will work with the Cybersecurity Operations leadership and interface with various internal security stakeholders in handling security events and tracking them to closure. You will provide support in analyzing security alerts, establishing threat management processes, maintaining data, performing tests and risk analysis, and recommending security tools and countermeasures to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team of cybersecurity professionals supporting a 17-state enterprise.
- Work with alerts from the Tier 1 SOC Analysts to perform in-depth analysis and triaging of alerts and suspected threat activities using computer and media forensics, malicious code analysis, and protocol analysis.
- Work with cyber threat intelligence analysts to convert threat intelligence into monitoring use cases.
- Perform daily operational 'eyes on glass' real-time monitoring and analysis of security events from multiple sources including but not limited to Security Incident & Event Monitoring (SIEM) tools, network devices and supporting systems.
- Communicate and escalate issues and incidents in accordance with established processes and guidelines.
- Contribute to the enhancement of SIEM processes and monitoring capabilities.
- Assist with incident response efforts including creation of incident response reports and documentation as required to communicate findings, outcomes and lessons learned.
- Respond or escalate alerts / incidents based on established procedures. Investigate suspected / actual security incidents.

This role does not allow for 100% remote work. Qualified candidates will need to live within a daily commutable distance of Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA and be willing to work in a hybrid work environment consisting of 3 days per week onsite.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
- Prior experience working in an IT environment (infrastructure or development roles).
- Basic understanding of networking principles: Familiarity with concepts such as IP addressing, subnets, and common network protocols.
- Proficiency in operating systems: Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and/or macOS environments, including basic troubleshooting and system administration tasks.
- Experience with IT support: Ability to provide technical support, resolve common IT issues, and assist with hardware and software installations.
- Familiarity with cloud services: Understanding of cloud computing concepts and some experience with platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- An understanding of incident response methodologies and technologies
- Experience in customer service including the resolution of customer escalations, incident handling, and response.
- Strong interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Other Preferred Experience
- Experience in programming and/or scripting languages (C, .NET, Python, Perl, etc.)
- Preferred technical certifications: MSCE, Network+, A+, Security+, or other relevant certification in vulnerability analysis, ethnical hacking techniques or penetration testing.
