We are a small, established creative agency in St. Paul with a client roster that includes some big, global brands.
We like to do good work and tell bad jokes. We are very serious about our values. We don’t really dig the work-all-hours-of-the-day-because-that’s-what-agencies-do thing, but we do have a ping-pong table at the office — our singular homage to agency cliché.
You’ll find our people working in any number of places — coffee shops (where this job description was written!), at our respective homes, or in our brick-and-timber studio, which is lined with tall windows and shares a building with Can Can Wonderland, BlackStack Brewing, and an axe-throwing joint.
About You:
You have several years of experience as a content strategist/creator in an agency setting. You are insatiably curious and have a strong sense of autonomy. You enjoy leading the charge, but you also love to collaborate when it serves the work.
You are a gifted writer — as dedicated to style as technique — and you take pleasure in finding the perfect turn of phrase. You also have a wide-ranging portfolio to prove it. You think broadly and holistically but can break down big ideas into supporting, executable moments. You are as comfortable working with clients as you are with agency staff and contractors.
You keep abreast of content trends, you nerd out on creating marketing plans and content calendars, and you are diligent in seeing a plan through to the end. Mostly likely, you are in or close to the Twin Cities metro area. You move through the world in a way that matches Upswing’s four values: act with pure hearts, foster meaningful relationships, have fun, and — of course — do great work.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct discovery meetings with clients to understand product/services details
- Consolidate and synthesize discovery findings and develop actionable insights
- Understand brand standards and voice across clients
- Create and present unique positioning and messaging to support client activations
- Develop market-facing, omnichannel content strategies
- Work closely with Art Director and Creative Director to develop marketing assets for clients
- Work with Project Manager to keep day-to-day programs moving
- Analyze and report on content performance to inform future activities
- Lead strategy, messaging, and content for the agency
- Assist Account Team with content for new business activities
- Develop repeatable processes for content generation
Technical Skills:
- Please be fluent in Microsoft Office
- Great if you know WordPress, HubSpot, and various ad platforms (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Familiarity with Slack and FunctionFox would be cool
