Test Engineer to join our team in Human Factors & Ergonomics in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Job Description:
The test engineer will be primarily responsible for
Ergonomics development with Seat Performance as future additive role, focused on Nissan and Infiniti vehicles manufactured in North America. This includes a wide-range of responsibilities including performance target setting, vehicle evaluation and assessments. The engineer will also need to interact daily with staff throughout the engineering, manufacturing, & quality organizations. Success in this role will be measured by product impact (in the form of competitive vehicle performance) and ability to provide attractiveness to the customer.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conducting static & dynamic evaluations of Nissan, Infiniti and competitor vehicles
- Setting performance targets & managing planning papers
- Defining the essential factors to both improve attractiveness of Nissan products and reduce customer dissatisfaction
- Planning, scheduling and carrying out tests to assess full vehicle performance achieves target
- Leading project development activities and communicating effectively within cross-functional teams
- Ability to present project updates & summary reports within test engineering, design, quality, manufacturing & project management organizations
- Proposing countermeasures to resolve customers concerns and working cross-functionally to ensure implementation and effectiveness matches prediction
- Negotiating in order to deliver product improvements that add value to Nissan and Infiniti customers
- Documenting all test and development activities through test reports and meeting minutes
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent degree) from an accredited university is required
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in automotive development or equivalent
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & meet project timing requirements
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with presentations to peers, supervisors & managers
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex mechanical systems
- Experience gathering data related to customer needs and expectations along with ability to summarize and present the results concisely & make clear recommendations
- Ability to travel within North America and Japan (approximately 15-20% required).
Other Desired Skills:
- Experience in customer-oriented evaluation methods or market surveys
- Demonstrated history for taking proactive approach & working cross-functionally across multiple functions
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex mechanical systems
- Training in quality analysis tools and ability to apply concepts (Pareto charts, Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys Analysis, etc)
