Summary
- Summary of work to be performed by contractor: Produces a major portion of a complex documentation set (i.e. online help, how-to, and scenario guidance) that complies with documentation plan requirements. Includes writing, editing, updating, capturing and adding screen shots as needed (limited), and publishing. Content will be published on learn.microsoft.com and support.microsoft.com. Develops and tests complex user scenarios that show how to use the product being documented. Ability to interact with Product SMEs, Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and Researcher to identify content needs. May instruct others in writing styles to support creation of documentation and guidance. Writes and helps implement documentation plan including reviewing data to inform improvements. Ability to shift technical language to usable, friendly, modern voice content for customers (end-users, admins, operators). Knowledge of Microsoft publishing products C3 and GitHub (strongly preferred but not required). Skilled in technical writing, editing, and proofreading for Microsoft. Knowledge of Microsoft Style Guide (preferred, not required)

- Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
Typical Day in the Role:
- Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is responsible for creating user and administrator content for the Viva suite of products, including how-tos, conceptual articles, and videos. They are currently working on integrating Copilot into their Viva product, specifically Viva Goals, but need additional resources due to insufficient full-time employees to cover the workload
- Key Projects: This role will contribute to integration of Copilot into the Viva product, specifically focusing on Viva Goals
- Typical Task Breakdown and Operating Rhythm: The role will consist of -Starting the day by reviewing requests for new content from partners
- Meeting with developers and product managers to initiate the content creation process
- Analyzing data on the performance of existing content and updating outdated content as necessary
- Expecting to use a variety of tools and getting hands-on with the product to validate any created documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or English, Journalism, Communications
- 5-7 years’ experience required

- Degrees or Certifications Required: Bachelors degree is required to be eligible for this role. Computer science, technical writing, UX, or English preferred, but any degree fulfills the requirement
- Disqualifiers: Candidates with less than year left in tenure will not be eligible for the role
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain Knowledge of GitHub and Markdown, as familiarity with these tools would be highly beneficial
- Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on the percentage of content that they're able to keep fresh and deadlines
