About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and talented Research Scientist to contribute to innovation in multimedia content generation, with a focus on generative models for image and video. Your work will center on designing, developing, and implementing text-to-image algorithms based on diffusion models, as well as investigating other models such as auto-regressive transformers. You will help create seamless, culturally-tailored storytelling experiences that span multiple modalities, including video, image, and comics.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research track record in Generative AI, including LLMs and diffusion models, and experience training AI models across various modalities. You’ll work on human-in-the-loop systems for creativity, collaborating with our world-class engineering team to push the boundaries of content creation and deliver impactful visual solutions.

The research scientist will have the opportunity to be mentored by senior research scientists while working collaboratively with engineers to build and iterate on R&D experiments, driving them to production.

The team is open for the candidate to be located anywhere in North America with the requirement to travel occasionally to meet the team in person a few times a year.

Key Responsibilities

Develop innovative research projects in computer vision, focusing on generative models for image and video
Design, develop, and implement text-to-image algorithms based on diffusion models
Investigate and implement other text-to-image models, such as auto-regressive transformers
Train generative AI models across modalities like video, image, comics, text, and audio
Implement new algorithms, run experiments, and design evaluations to enhance global content creation, adaptation, and translation
Implement and optimize finetuning pipelines with techniques like RLHF, DPO, and LoRA to efficiently train production-scale language models
Ensure the quality and consistency of AI-generated content through rigorous testing and evaluation
Support the team in publishing research findings in top-tier AI conferences and journals

Qualifications

Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with research methodologies
Experience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Demonstrated experience in deep learning, especially computer vision and generative models (diffusion models, auto-regressive transformers)
Familiarity with methods of training and fine-tuning language models, including reinforcement learning, policy optimization, and supervised fine-tuning
Preference for fast-paced, collaborative projects with concrete goals, quantitatively tested through A/B experiments
Published research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences on relevant topics
