Editor/Project Manager

The American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) and its services division FASS are seeking an editor/project manager to work on scientific material, newsletters, and a variety of other projects. This is a full-time remote position. Compensation is in the $45,000–$50,000 range depending on experience.

Duties include

Editing and proofreading general scientific material according to established style guides
Reviewing, marking, and correcting copy for grammatical and typing errors
Organizing and shepherding materials related to meetings, manuals, and newsletters
Working with other teams to ensure materials are submitted to the publications department correctly, completely, and on time
Working with compositors to communicate editorial instructions and ensure corrections have been made accurately

You possess

Required: A minimum of three years editing general copy professionally OR one year of experience in editing scientific materials or academic journals
A Bachelor's degree in science with technical/copy editing experience or a bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or related
Excellent editing and proofreading skills
The ability to work independently with self-direction, but ready to collaborate with others where appropriate; you are detail oriented and very well organized
The ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, handle last-minute requests, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong computer skills, thorough knowledge of MS Office and Adobe CS products, and comfort with emerging technology
