JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview: The Project Intern is responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to various agricultural activities and reporting findings to the Chief Scientist at ICAC. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity and efficacy of project data and ensuring smooth communication and documentation of project progress.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Collection and Analysis:

· Collect baseline and ongoing data from field staff, partners, and students on key agricultural metrics such as productivity, soil organic carbon, gender equality, pesticide usage, and agroecosystem diversity.

· Ensure accurate tabulation, analysis, and reporting of collected data to support decision-making and project evaluation.

2. Record Maintenance:

Maintain detailed records of project field demonstrations, farmer trainings, extension activities, list of beneficiaries, and participants in farmer field schools and other program activities.
Manage technical files and correspondence related to the project.

3. Report Preparation:

Prepare draft reports on periodic progress and annual impact assessments.
Compile and prepare annual program progress reports by consolidating data and reports from project managers to submit to the Chief Scientist.

4. Communication and Documentation:

Prepare and maintain minutes and reports of workshops, meetings, and training programs, ensuring that all documentation is translated as necessary for broader accessibility.
Create presentations and notes for workshops, meetings, and training programs, and handle the logistics of translations.

5. Support and Collaboration:

Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive data gathering and report accuracy.
Assist in organizing and conducting training programs and workshops, ensuring effective communication and documentation of these events.

Qualifications:

Postgraduate in Agricultural Sciences or related disciplines.
Proficiency in English and French languages for communication and translation purposes in the region is advantageous.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in preparing clear and concise reports.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Knowledge of agricultural practices and data collection methodologies is preferred.
