Our Engineering department is looking for an Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading and executing the engineering activities of BEC by applying technical knowledge, sound engineering judgment, and skill. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the electrical system meets present and future requirements and provides safe, efficient, and reliable service to its members at the lowest possible cost. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for researching, recommending, and implementing current and future technologies for the distribution system, smart grid system, renewable energy designs, and engineering planning systems.

Engineering

Provide guidance and assistance in the engineering activities of the cooperative
Utilize engineering planning and designing software to increase the reliability of the power grid
Manage the development of Apolloware DERMS and other system planning tools, such as Solar Systems, Energy Storage Systems, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, Demand Response Management, and other emerging technologies
Works closely with other engineers to evaluate and analyze the electric grid and its associated functions, including transmission, substation, and distribution system
Manages projects as assigned, including planning, design, construction, and operation aspects
Cooperate with the optical fiber communications group to integrate next-generation grid devices
Monitoring and providing information about the availability of technology and associated repairs

Advising & Consulting

Research and recommend current and future technologies for smart grid systems, renewable energy designs, and engineering planning systems
Assist in the operation of the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, and suggest network and infrastructure improvements
Review current renewable energy designs and manufacturing processes, determine limitations, and recommend alternative solutions
Effectively and efficiently address and assist others in addressing member and employee questions and complaints
Utilizes a variety of engineering planning and designing software, such as Milsoft, AutoCAD, or Node Red for project support functions

Project Management

Manage projects and schedules for smart grid applications and renewable energy topics and create new business development initiatives
Proficient to operate BEC’s enterprise software, such as NiSC

Administrative & Public Relations

Assist in budgets and special projects for the department
Represent the Cooperative at local, state, and national organizations and meetings

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) or Electrical Engineering Technology (B.S.E.T) is required
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred

Experience:

3-5 Years of Experience in technology development, software engineering, or a related field
Experience in data analysis and visualization

Valid Texas Driver’s License and Related Insurance
Must pass background and drug screening

Working Conditions:

Working conditions for this position involve working in a fast-paced office environment with a combination of individual and team-based projects. This role requires the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. The individual will be expected to work with precision and attention to detail and will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in the work performed. The role requires the ability to work with different teams and individuals, both internally and externally. The position may involve occasional travel and may require working outside of regular business hours.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements for this position include the ability to perform sedentary work while frequently sitting in front of a computer and using a keyboard and mouse. The individual in this position may also need to occasionally lift and move office equipment. The individual in this role should have the ability to communicate verbally, as well as have good eyesight, including color vision and near vision, to read and interpret documents, and to use computer systems. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time is also required.
