Summary

The National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) is seeking an exceptional, self-motivated, and versatile Accounts Payable Specialist to work on-site in Columbus, OH. This person is a key component of the National Board Accounting team. This position is critical to ensure accurate and timely payments to our vendors, consultants and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and process invoices, expenses reports, and check requests to ensure accurate and timely payment in accordance with financial policies
Review and code expense reports from staff, consultants, and members for reimbursement
Track, code and reconcile monthly corporate credit card statement and verify proper documentation has been submitted and approved in the expense reporting system
Process monthly wire payments and customer check refunds
Work with internal and external customers to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies
Seek out and obtain early pay discounts with vendors
Setup new vendors and maintain current vendor list, including obtaining proper documentation for all vendors
File IRS Form 1099 annually for appropriate vendors
Research and follow-up on outstanding checks and issue stop-payments as necessary
Assist with sales tax compliance in accordance with state and local entities
Assist with information tracking for the Form 990 tax return
Record and reconcile petty cash activity
Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Completion of formal accounting courses (preferred)

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years experience in Accounts Payable

KNOWLEDGE OF

Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent Excel skills
ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Great Plains and Aptify
Expense reporting systems, preferably Nexonia
Principles of office procedures and protocols
General accounting practices

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and organization skills
Interact professionally with vendors, customers and staff
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Utilize excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Interface accounting data between multiple systems
Identify areas of duplication, inaccuracy or inefficiency and recommend changes
