GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

This person will play a significant role to represent JCB in the development of PCI security standards and EMVCo security requirements, as well as contribute to other payments security initiatives within JCB. The person will be representing JCB in multiple payments standards organizations (e.g. PCI, EMVCo, W3C).

The person will work directly with others in the product team, technical working groups, industry stakeholders, and other subject matter experts to develop new security requirements and standards. This includes the development of requirements and assessment procedures to meet security objectives, as well as guidance documents, testing requirements, evaluation criteria, and other documents to support adoption and implementation. Additional responsibilities will include researching security criteria for emerging technologies used for new payments capabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - MANAGEMENT PLANNING ACTIVITIES:

Perform the following activities on a regular basis:

Contribute security knowledge and subject matter expertise to develop technical security requirements and evaluation procedures for the new security standards.
Draft and contribute to materials covering various payment industry technologies and topics such as 3-D Secure, cloud, e-commerce, mobile payments, cryptography, and tokenization.
Create security documents for technical specifications and testing documentation for new issuing and acceptance devices based on emerging payment technologies.
Coordinate research and input from various stakeholders on current standards, evaluate feedback, provide recommendations, and draft changes as agreed to by the working groups.
Assist in managing relationships with our 3rd-party vendors, internal product, and technology partners to support effective product management and development.
Participate in the creation and presentation of materials for internal and external partners.
Maintain proficiency with current security best practices for the payments industry.
Educate and train JCB Tokyo employees regarding the new security considerations for emerging payment technologies or products.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION NEEDED:

Bachelors degree or higher in a related technical field (e.g. Cybersecurity, Cryptography); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual language skills in Japanese is a plus.
Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, or equivalent is a plus.

EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

Experience or education in one or more technical security fields (e.g., data security, software security, chip card security, embedded security, cyber security, cryptography, information security, network security, etc.)
Experience in payments technologies (especially in security areas like cryptography) such as network tokenization, contactless payments, e-commerce, digital authentication, mobile and embedded payments, or digital payments is preferred.
Ability in the areas of specification definition, document development, business analysis, testing strategy development and/or certification process development.
Ability to drive process, project, and results by influencing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Expertise in developing or evaluating security considerations including cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and key management architectures for contact/contactless, e-commerce or mobile payments is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Vision - Requires vision abilities to be able to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen.
Travel - Requires above 25% - 40% travel by both car and airplane. Sometimes international travel and sometimes overnight.
Verbal and Written Communications- Able to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
