Through our certification program, standards, advocacy, and other activities, we strive to help save energy, improve productivity, and ensure a better environment.

Summary

The Director, Regulatory Affairs is critical to the formulation and implementation of energy and environmental policies. The Director will work with the AHRI Government Affairs Team to direct AHRI's policy agenda and coordinate regulatory priorities in the areas of energy efficiency, environment, climate, chemicals, and decarbonization policy.

Responsibilities

Anticipates internal and/or external policy and regulatory issues and recommends strategies on the impacts to AHRI members.
Engages with AHRI members to develop consensus on priority regulatory needs and policy positions.
Solicits member input and leads the development of comments on federal and state regulatory rulemakings that affect the industry.
Plays a key role in the development of AHRI regulatory policy positions to enable AHRI to act proactively on priority issues to best meet members’ short-term and long-term needs.
Draft regulatory comments, testimony, white papers and/or talking points to be used at public hearings, agency meetings and other external communications by AHRI and its members.
Advance AHRI regulatory policy priorities by actively participating in industry coalitions.
Provide rapid response on AHRI priorities through the development of regulatory comments, letters, talking points on issues concerning AHRI members.
Build recognition as a regulatory expert with AHRI and field of responsibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 7 years energy and environment or related regulatory experience, most of which is in a trade association

Skills and Qualities

Strong project manager who creates efficient workflows
Active listener, with the emotional intelligence to connect with wide range of members, policymakers, subject matter experts
Skillful in leading a process of give and take in order to reach consensus

Salary Range: $125,000 to $160,000

Benefits: Full benefits package including employer contributions to 401(k) and Roth(k) plans in a friendly work environment.

Schedule: Required to be in the office three days a week (minimum) in Arlington, Virginia
