We are seeking Medical Assistants to assist our Physicians and Nurses in providing care to our patients at our Health Center in White Plains Road, Bronx. Bilingual – Spanish, Creole, French a plus.

BCHN’s service area includes the entire borough of the Bronx, including all 25 zip codes. Within this area, Health Center sites focus on the low-income and underserved populations.

About the Role: The Medical Assistants (MA) will work closely with other healthcare professionals to communicate with patients and maintain confidentiality. Duties include recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling patient’s appointments and performing standard care procedures like drawing blood, checking vitals, or collecting lab samples. Restock supplies in examination rooms and assist with coordination of prescription refills for patients to pick up at their local pharmacy. Medical Assistants are multiskilled health professionals responsible for performing administrative and clinical tasks in our primary care facilities while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining positive patient engagement.

Perform patient intake procedures in preparation for the medical visit.
Obtain basic patient medical histories and document in the medical record as appropriate.
Collect laboratory specimens and perform point of care testing as ordered by clinician of record.
Measure and record vital signs.
Prepare patient exam rooms for patient care by following basic infection control procedures.
Schedule patient appointments as needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications And Skills

Experience as a Medical Assistant: 1-4 years.
Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
BLS Certification (Required)
EMR systems: 1 year (Required)
Bilingual – Spanish, French, Creole

Good time management and organization
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Superior customer service skills

Salary: Exact compensation based on skills; experience $35,000 – 45,000 annually
