The Role: Marketing Specialist
The Marketing Specialist works closely with the Marketing Communications Manager, Content Specialist, Marketing Coordinator, and VP of Finance and Shared Services to successfully execute internal and external communications and messaging to drive revenue and site traffic as well as increase awareness and engagement with MBAKS and its members. The Marketing Specialist must have skills in the areas of graphic design and digital marketing, along with knowledge and experience in HTML, web content management systems, project management, and AP style. Primary areas of responsibility include website management, managing the production of publications, and copyediting.
The Marketing team provides centralized support to all MBAKS departments including but not limited to internal and external communications, association events, product awareness, brand identity, and housing advocacy. This team works closely with the events team to achieve business goals and ensure consistent brand messaging and strong market presence, as well as with the government affairs team to advance key advocacy initiatives.
Core Responsibilities (more about the role):
- Monitor and maintain all aspects of; mbaks.com, mbagrip.com, builtgreen.net, builtgreenconference.net, remodeltour.com, and mbahealthtrust.com including updating content, placing video and graphics, SEM, SEO, and landing pages.
- Process management of the quarterly Master Builder Magazine.
- Work with internal stakeholders to design, edit, and prepare marketing collateral, event collateral, presentations, displays, blog posts, issue briefs, website information, etc. for internal and external audiences.
- Support quality control and editing of internal and external news stories, as well as copy for print and digital content and PowerPoint presentations.
- Act as copy editor for MBAKS publications including, but not limited to, Master Builder magazine, Home Remodelers Directory, Marketing Guide, and Annual Report.
- Participate in planning sessions and provide feedback for the development of marketing strategies.
- Generate and pitch ideas for new and improved marketing initiatives, campaigns, and processes.
- Work cross-functionally between departments to support marketing and communication initiatives.
- Provide support as needed at association events.
- Execute or support additional projects, initiatives, and programs as directed.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience or 4+ years of related experience in marketing, communications or related field
- Must have strong organizational and efficiency skills, adjusting quickly to changing priorities and aggressive timelines, as well as the ability to quickly transition from one task to another in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent computer proficiency with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and HTML
- Must enjoy working with information that is technical in nature and have the ability to tailor that information for both lay and specialized audiences
- Highly collaborative team player willing to jump in to support others on the team
- Must be a creative problem-solver
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrated analytical and proofreading skills
- Ability to interface with all levels of management
- Must be self-motivated with the ability and desire to assume ownership of responsibilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Internet marketing and social media savvy
- Excellent critical thinking skills; using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Bonus Skills/Credentials
- Experience creating, monitoring, analyzing and deploying email and web advertising campaigns including copy, graphics, statistics, and pay per click campaigns
- Photography and videography experience including editing
- Experience with uploading videos to websites, YouTube, social media, etc.
- Technically savvy to learn proprietary CRM software

Compensation:
This is a temporary full time, exempt position until Fall/Winter of 2024 with a possibility of being retained permanently, depending on the association’s needs.
Starting Base Salary: $75,000 to $80,000

MBAKS advocates primarily at the local level, but also at the state and sometimes national levels. We also work to partner with other individuals and organizations that can help to elevate residential housing issues, as well as educate our members regarding the value of their engagement in our advocacy initiatives. Separately, the MBAKS Affordable Housing Council works to elect pro-housing candidates to public office.
