SHEPRA, Inc. has two operating units – Consulting Services and Engineering Technology Services. Both units produce content for internal and external client technical documentation (e.g., technical reports, briefings, proposals, manuals, and other publications). The editor will work with internal and external teams to understand the subject matter to produce high-quality documentation appropriate to its intended audience.
The main tasks of the assistant editor generally include:
- Working closely with subject matter experts, data analysts, consultants, and other editors to produce a quality product for the client
- Collaborating with engineers, developers, and other technical specialists to ensure that they understand the subject
- Researching and gathering technical information and studying target audiences
- Creating clear and concise material by editing and proofreading content at a high level
- Offering feedback and guidance for subject matter experts regarding their writing
- Producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience
- Revising or rewriting existing technical literature
- Updating and maintaining a library of technical terminology and documentation
- Creating and maintaining the information architecture and office templates to standardize company documentation products
- Creating and manipulating illustrations, graphics, charts, diagrams, etc. to be included in documentation
- Creating other materials (e.g., presentation briefings, marketing materials, proposals)
Required Skills:
- Grasping complex technical concepts quickly and making them easily understandable in text, tables, and figures
- Delivering high quality documentation, paying attention to detail and audience
- Editing technical documentation for format, accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to company style guide and client specifications
- Excellent written skills in English
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Teams
- Proficiency in professional style guides, especially the Chicago Manual of Style
- Meeting strict deadlines/timeframes
Preferred Qualifications:
· Security clearance

· Graphic design (e.g., experience creating infographics and marketing brochures)

Education: Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
