Global Christian Relief (GCR) is an international non-profit ministry with the mission of creating a movement of prayer and support for persecuted Christians so they can be a light for the Gospel in their communities. SUMMARY
The Social Media Director is responsible for organic story, news, engagement, and fundraising content across all social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, YouTube, and TikTok. This leadership position is responsible for creating a vibrant online community and a dedicated following of supporters to achieve the organization’s awareness and fundraising objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and producing highly sharable (viral) content. The SM Director will build/manage a small team and will work closely with internal partners to ensure successful execution of social media campaigns and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Strategy: Develop, implement, and execute GCR’s social media strategy to align with overall business objectives.
· Campaign Planning & Content Calendar: Own and manage the social media campaign planning, content calendar to ensure timely and effective execution.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Field Story team to innovate content creation and distribution to reach new audiences.
· Acquisition: Work closely with Digital Fundraising team to improve email lead generation and new donors.
· Optimization: Continually optimize the processes for content sourcing, creation, publishing, and measurement. Implement robust test-and-learn roadmaps to drive innovation.
· Community Interaction: Proactively engage with GCR social media accounts to promote dialogue, answer questions, and provide resources for supporting the persecuted church.
· Brand Consistency: Ensure brand messaging is consistent across all social media channels, monitor social media comments as needed, to maintain brand integrity.
· Emerging Tools & Trends: Evaluate new social media tools, emerging platforms, and competitor activity.
· Team Leadership: Build and manage a nimble and strategic team of social media experts.
· Internal Advocacy: Serve as internal champion for social media, advising on policy matters, and educate internal teams on social media to foster alignment across the organization.
· Partnerships: Forge and manage strategic partnerships to amplify GCR's presence and impact.
· Metrics: Establish and measure KPI’s including organic reach, shares, comments, website traffic, email subscriber growth, and donations.
· Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, marketing, communications, or related field.
· Experience: 5+ years in digital media and marketing, preferably with a digital-centric consumer brand, agency, or nonprofit.
· Innovation mind set, willing to challenge the status quo.
· Proactive leader and doer, strategic, innovative, collaborative, and easy to work with.
· Proven track record of delivering impactful social media campaigns and viral content.
· Excellent listening skills and comfort with constructive feedback.
· Ability to self-deliver creative content (text, image, and video).
· Excellent copywriting, written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong understanding of social monitoring and reporting tools space, such as Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Later, Link in Bio, Google Analytics, and Hootsuite.
· Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
